> Complete adblock for your system. A local DNS ad and tracker blocker for Android and macOS. It is not a remote privacy VPN.

Adblock VPN blocks ads and trackers without sending traffic through a VPN server. Filtering happens on the device. The app does not encrypt traffic, hide the IP address, or provide anonymous internet access.

- Known advertising and tracking domains from EasyList and related lists

## How it works

1. The user turns the filter on.
2. Android uses a local VPN tunnel. macOS uses a local DNS listener on 127.0.0.1.
3. Hosts on the blocklist are sinkholed. User-excluded sites are blocked. User-included sites are never blocked.
4. Allowed DNS queries resolve normally. There is no Adblock VPN remote server.

## Limits

DNS blocking cannot hide ads served from the same host as the content. Only one VPN can run at a time on Android.
